'when one travels
far wide and deep
into deserts and mountains and forests
one tends to be...
well...ascetic?'
Francesco stated
not stated...he was visibly seeking opinion
from Isabel,
his companion...
to whom he appeared the meekest...
It was another morn
and Isabella was sitting opposite
before him ...
on the table she had arranged two cups of tea
and on chinaware...she had placed cookies...
and this morning
while Frances went out for his routine exercise
she...stayed back
arranging things
at home...
Frances returned last night
tired...
his bagpack
she had cleaned...
brought out his papers...logbook and other expedition stuff...
placed them neat in their places...
Frances might need them again
and she had to keep them...
custodian of his works...
'vero...'
Isabella smiled...
'who knows that better than me?
I am learning still
but with you I am also becoming...
ascetic?'
She asked...
smiling more...candid...bright
sunshine through the curtains
on her face...
Francesco looked at her face
full of godly confess...
satiety...
fulfilment...
as if there was no lament...
as if life was bound to be such...
free...
and yet profound...
joyous
and full of celebration...
the sky as captured by the window frame
was blue with a lot of pink...
two seagulls like a painted canvas there flew
momentarily fixed
at particular co ordinates...
'The tea...
it is getting cold...'
Isabel reminded
for she knew Francesco was staring out
to the sky
blue
with pinkish hue...
and the seagulls...
Francesco came back
to the cups of lemon tea
and cookies...
Leaning forward he
whispered
'sei divina...'
The sunshine through the casement...
Just lighted more the room...
Isabella's face was full of pink and blue...
