Song for the rill

Sitting by the side of the rill
Flowing through the valley green
Being part of a wonderful scene
How with songs of life me fills

And I think I must have been
Blessed by the Lord above
For who could have so been
Sensed the passion of Love

Sitting by the side of the rill
How draped me with sublimity
How I get decked by words
And the infallible mirth of His Beauty

If thou be Artemis or Phoebe

If  thou be Artemis or Phoebe
Who covers me with thy greenness
Prithee just like that keep thy bless
For if ever doth thou go away from me
I wilt wither like a leaf singed,  fallen over lea
Carried away by wanton wind which knows not
What splendour of Love thou hath for me brought,

Wilt I then lose all my redness of Autumn
And greenness of youthful spring
Wilt I then turn to decay, a mournful scene,
And my ribs wilt then be seen like skeletal remains
If thou be Artemis or Phoebe, keep thy essence
Of beauty and abundance all over me,
Or else wilt I turn a leaf singed fallen over lea.

To belle amie

Now that I find my rest in thee
So wrought by thy exquisite poetry
Let me write for thee more
O belle amie whence thy Love thee pour

How with thee I take a flight
To the kingdom of heaven
Drenched by morning's light

How with thee do I think to reach
At the gate golden sans time's breach
Where music flows eternal and true
Where for thou I gather words few

Only to put them all at thy feet
O bel amie how for thou do I meet
The flowers forever swinging haply in breeze
Songs forever flowing without cease

From my throat so far muted a soul
How for thee my songs I unscroll
And by thy wonder how I go on writing
From dawn to dusk, night to morning,

As if there is no end to thy bless
Thy awesome poesy thy never ending kindness.

The Seagull and the morn

'My cherub art thou!'
Saying this the Seagull took a flight
Over the sea blue that glittered in morn's light,
I just looked at her so going away
Through the sea breeze finding her way
Beautiful as she looked white and winged
How she to dreams of unknown lands me  sent,
Her soaring to see was itself an act of joy
Seagull bright as she spread her wings! Ahoy!
I yelled at her , clapping hands like a friend,
Seeing her so wonderous , taking turns and bends,
Cutting through the air, with ease, so elegant
O how I wished to go with her to her land,
And the Seagull perhaps knew my heart too
For out of the sky white and so blue
She swooped down  fast  before me,
(Afterall called me she a cherub, hadn't she?)
And taking a round around my enchanted state
She flew up, up happy and straight,
Till could I see her no more
Morning whence touched me pure
With her light, her mirth, her beauty so,
O how I stood by the sea, watching The Seagull's glow.

Being bel ami

As thou come from faraway land
As in thy hands thou hold the time's sand
'Tell me,' said I once to the rose so french
'What can I do now that by thy love thou me drench?'

Hearing me saying so she just smiled
It had not joys but hurts hidden without guile
'Have you ever seen a rose being plucked
Have  you ever seen how it gets hurt
Once its petals are torn by acts without mercy
Have you ever wished to feel and by heart see
How the silent tears gather on petals quiet
How they still sparkle whence kissed by light?'

How was by pain I  incurably wrought
Hearing her saying so how only agony brought
I just kept mum for hours few
I just looked at her face so glistened by dew,

And she spake, gently kissing my forehead
'Now that have I told you , my heart
Now that have I told you, my hurts
Can I call you my bel ami?
Can me be your belle amie?'

I looked at her wonderous gaze
It was filled with inescapable kindness
I just stared at her like a bemused child
I just looked at her smile soft and mild,

' tell me, ' I murmured like a leaf in breeze
' what can I do for thee , say please?'

And she like a benign creature rose
To my hand she gave no arrows
But she left me with a feather dipped in ink
And that happening to her me linked,

'From now on , I can only say
I will remain thy child come what may
For thee will my songs will I sing
Whence thou so much happiness doth bring'
Saying thus I took my pen to my heart
There I tried to make thousand roses bloom smart
Without any tinge of pain or neglect
There I Love's sacred shrine did erect
And for her,  belle amie , I vowed to keep
All of  my love profound and deep.

Selene *

'The air, unlit before, glows with the light of her golden crown, and her rays beam clear, whensoever bright Selene having bathed her lovely body in the waters of Ocean, and donned her far-gleaming raiment'

Oft have I thought to myself
What could the proper way be
To express my love into which I delve
For thee, as if  perpetually,

It had been quite a task to find
The ways of my heart, my songs
The way thy love tunes my mind,

So how I go in search for thee
Only to discover more of life
Only to find more of me
And the infallible golden flakes
Of mellifluous poetry,

And the more I go wandering thus
How do I grow within me a tree perhaps
That is blessed by thy beauty inexpressible
How thinking of thee moments I pass,

I find curious how journeying with thee
I have gone to the mountains and sea
I find how loving more thee
I come back more only to me,

And there how like by thy raiment wrapped
I find all of my heart's joys how lapped
On the shores of my heart and mind
How in thou only my words I find.

(*note: the quoted lines are part of Hymn to Selene.)

When you kiss me

When you kiss me
How on your lips
I find moisture of my eyes
For my tears happy
Come out for thee,
When you kiss me.

When you kiss me
How do I feel
Sweet  breeze blowing
From Mediterranean sea
Filled with thy aroma
Coming to me.

An evening of a kind

It had been an evening of a kind
We were both out of home to find
What was there left for me and you
Sailing as we were, where sky met  the blue;

The surf and the foam glistened quite
And how we two drenched by silvery light
Thought how our worlds got intertwined
It had been such an evening of a kind.

Taking hands thine

Taking hands thine sailing
How had  I taken a voyage
Through the sea of time sans failing,

It had been a wonderous night
Moon upon us shone bright,
And thy face resplendent
How me to a land of dreams sent,

I sang a song seeing thy beauty,
Coming out of my heart melodious
Filled with love as thy face I did see,

How did we sail from one land to another
How did we cross time's ocean like feather
Never did I think, so intoxicated had I been
Seeing thou holding my hands and smiling,

And around us how the sea glistened true
Catching thy love and my song's tune too,
How we just kept sailing through
Drenched by moon's silvery hue.

Italia*

Told her , " Queen
So many poets have come to thee
(Crossing lands and seas)
To put gifts at thy feet
I have also hearing that
Come to sing like the bird at thy door
Morning as songs pour";

The Queen came to window
Veiled as she and said,
" Now that is winter,
Sky mine  is filled with mist
Garden has no blossoms";

Told her, " Queen
Beyond that sea brought for thee
My music, my flute,
Can you not unveil thy face
Only wish to trace
Light in eyes thine";

She said , " I have not put on colorful dress today,
Hey poet, impatient, please go back
When the sweetness of falgun would come
I will you beckon,
When will I sit on blossoms,
I will ask you to come and sit
Just by my side
(As we would see the beauty thence
And have a treat);

Told her , " Queen
I think this journey
Has been by thee
Turned fruitful
For have I heard
Songs of hopes full;
In the mild breeze of spring
Inviting thee to my garden
 in blooming flowers
Thou will I see;
On that day of succulent joy
Filled by fragrance thine
Will I find my path to that window thine
Thence will with thee come good times mine;
Today while going away will I be singing true
Songs only hailing thee".

The transliteration is my humble tribute to the greatest poet and bard of all times.)

Ushering in

As the year is softly passing by
With all its charms and also sighs
I wish love blooms everywhere
Trees more are planted fair
Our children grow with more of love
Peace arrives with the calm of doves

How I wish to see a world without poverty
How I wish to see people living merrily
How do I wish to find all afloat on river of life
Without wars, scuffles and battles and pains and strife
How do I wish to see a world better, greener and purified
How do I wish to see dreams not getting belied.

Lets go out then you and I

'Lets go out then you and I
When the evening is spread out  against the sky ' *

Lets go out then you and I
Whence the evening is spread out against the sky
You will be my lady with the lamp
Going out of the cave moist and damp
Where you have like a hermit stayed
Away from the world for months and days;

We will together go to the land of tomorrow
Bereft of pains, sufferings and sorrow,
Where birds twitter and chirp on trees
Where streams murmur forever without cease,
There we will make ourselves true
Naked like child me and you,
You will show me how thy splendour bright
Can turn a glimmer of hope into a spectrum of light
You will show me how in thy self feminine
The whole world resides and grows fine,
How in thy shape bright and womanly
Will I find heaven filled with glee,

And that will in turn for sure make me
To take a plunge in thy measureless    poetry
And from there will I for thou bring
Music , cadence and songs that will ring
For ages after we will take the flight to sky
For ages after we will bid the world ' Good bye'.

(* note: the quoted lines are taken from ' The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot.)

Just a love poem ( duet)

He :

Losing myself into you
Has oft brought me to a sense
Of fulfilment perfectly due,
As perhaps a bud feels dense
Breaking open just at the cue
Of the morning's mildest light-
Pinkish and orange hues
Whence touch the sky bright,
And I think I turn a flower true
Blessed by love of you,

She:
The wine of Life flows in my veins

Since our hearts did intertwine;

Flowers now have a sharper fragrance

And Life is more divine.

Orange and blue are the skies

Under which I worship you;

Let never deceit and lies

Come between us two.

This magical Love and its essence

Overwhelms my Being and every sense.

He:
Your smiling face I then reflect,

My petals drenched by dew

With sweetness of pollens set

Greet my blossoming new,

Losing myself into you

Has oft brought me to the brink

Of an overwhelming view

Of life and love in which I sink

Haply as ever as someone lured

By something pristine and pure,

She:

Since I was young, I had dreamt

And for a great love did I pine;

All such dreams I locked and kept –

And today, you are mine.

The rosebud now becomes a rose

And the heart is a blue butterfly;

Fortunate I am that we chose

To together live and die.

Losing myself into you,

I think I turned a flower true.

If thou be Europa

If thou be just like Europa,
Providing me with thy ambrosia
All the time putting words in me
Making me delve deep more into thee,
I will cling more to thy divinity
Offering my soul, my blood and purest me;

Then perhaps you will reveal
Your love, your joys , your shine,
Then perhaps I will also feel
Your sweetness, your red red wine,

And we will with happiness lie
On each other true , for eternitie.

Sitting by the Indian Ganges side

Sitting by the Indian Ganges side

You and I, will read a poem

You might think of Andrew Marvell

And I perhaps too, think Carpe diem,

(Seeing the River thus

Flowing for ages

Just like our lives and us,)

So enchanted by the day's mirth

Perhaps will I weave a song too,

Just by your side

Spending the day long overdue.

Helena

If thou be the daughter of Leda
In whom Zeus once instilled Love,
Come to me dear Helena,
Come to me like the calm of Dove,
With thy kiss seal my fate, by Jove,
In thee will I forever reside
Whence everything barring thou so gross
Float me in thy Holy Tide,
Make me a winged creature
As thou art blessed by Mother true,
Give gentle breeze to my feather
And make me find me only in you.

If Love comes in thy shape

If Love comes in thy shape
As like Eos thou light up mindscape
Let that be the hue of my day
And let me sing for thee, pray,

If Love so takes me to the sea
Where waves hold the key
Following each other as they come
Glistening in light every night and morn,

Let that be my life with thee
Thou the rising Venus of Botticelli
And me conjuring for thee only eulogy.

Dresden china, belle amie and more

If I had to sing a song for life
What could I sing to thee?
Only joys and mirth and glee
Can there never be
A bit of melancholy?

If I had to sing a song for life
What could I sure to sing?
Love if more of love thou bring
Can there ever be
A touch of melancholy?

Not that all these I know
Belle amie for thou as I go,
May be for thou will I be
A potter, a sculptor
With a variety,

I will create then a china ware
Upon it will make flowers fair
If art holds the eternity
Can't  we not live forever,
You and me?

To Maya di

Who ever thought that you would take
That journey so early which stars do make?
Now that the sky is so filled with glittering things
Now that the evening reminding me you a dirge sings
How am I lost in words grope blind in search
Your laughter, your smile, your vivicious life,
How you have gone beyond with ease all pains and strife...

( Maya Roy, worked with us. She had been a phenomenal woman to say the least. She left for eternal abode this year. After her passing away wrote a short write up in her daughter's blog. But never thought would write any poem and that too an Obituary. This poem just happened. )

A box of everlasting spring

All those flowers that bloom everyday
In my heart for thou how I keep
In a box  with a sprinkle of preservative
So that when seasons will go away
There they will be still smiling happy
There how I keep the aroma of everlasting spring
So that even when spring will be no longer there
When arid summer will make the water , vapour
And dryness will return with all its rage
There they will be preserved for even that  age,

And do you know what that box I call
By which name there I keep memories all?

A box simple made of paper
with designs ornate, filled with flowers,
How I keep all my love there
Only for thou if thou be Calliope
for whom do I oft dare
To write more till the day
Whence will I no longer be here.
